This save the king(dom) concept was made for ludum dare 46 in 72h from scratch with construct 3.

The original idea was to train the king to improve his characteristics via a limited number of actions per day.

Then a series of 3 types of events were triggered testing one of the king's characteristics, chosen randomly, depending on the value of this characteristic, the event adjusted one of the characteristics of the kingdom.

We then set out at the end of the game jam to write a lot of different events, when we were clearly already burn out.

This concept was an atrocious idea for a hobbyist developer. My math foundation is bad. I also didn't know how to handle a data structure properly with Construct. It's certainly easier today since they allow coding directly in the event sheets, but I've moved on to other engines.

There were many abandoned ideas in the first few hours. Looking back now, I know it wasn't enough to solve the problems we were encountering.

I should have spent more time on the whiteboard coming up with a simpler gameplay idea for a jam. Then we would have had time to make a more polished game.

Enjoy this mess if you can.

I love! the art style. I wasn't sure what I had to do. But the text saying what happened made me laugh!
